Patterdale Terrier Champions bred for hunting, show,
working, performance, and companions for more than twenty-five years.
Our Patterdale terriers are bred to maintain the highest standards for working and hunting.
Bred from pure English and Irish breeding stock, absolutely NO curs! The original MQH Patterdales were bred and directly imported from Brian Nuttall, who wrote the breed standard for Patterdale terriers, used all over the world. At MQH Kennel, all of our dogs are at least six generations (most are more) of true black fell terriers, absolutely NO outcrosses to Jack Russels, Lakelands, borders, or bulls!
We believe that Patterdale terriers should not be corrupted by fads or the desire to own a pocket pitbull. We breed only proven workers who possess gameness, hardness, intensity, and stability. All of our stock is registered with the Patterdale Terrier Club of America to maintain accurate pedigrees. MQH Patterdale Terriers pedigrees have the blood of five PTCA "Hall of Fame" terriers within a few generations.
Beginning in 2007, we began showing our dogs in conformation and have had phenomenal success. Our Patterdales have received Top Ten status nationally every year, amassing more than a dozen champions and a UKC Premier Best of Breed Winner.
We raise a limited number of pups each year, most for our own use on the ranch, however, we do occasionally have pups available for purchase...
MQH Kennel is known around the world as one of the top breeders of hunting Patterdale terriers.
We have shipped our dogs to nearly every continent.
At MQH Patterdale Terriers, we spend a tremendous amount of time deciding on each mating because we keep most we raise! Hunting and working ability, type, attitude, and soundness are paramount!
The greatest compliment a breeder can receive is the repeat buyer and we have many!
Every puppy we raise will have the MQH Kennel name on it, and we are very proud of it!
They are all raised in our home because it is extremely important that every pup is lovingly cared for and well socialized.
California’s pet legislation pressure has demanded that all dogs used for breeding prove their worthiness by being shown at conformation events or achieving another valid title by a recognized organization. We have selected to show our dogs in United Kennel Club events. Many local UKC clubs will allow Patterdale terriers to show. If any local UKC breed club has not included Patterdales just ask and most will add the breed for their next event. UKC shows are very fun and welcoming! Some offer far more than just conformation classes, hosting "Total Dog," agility, GTG, and obedience.
As we have always adhered to a policy of only breeding dogs that meet a rigorous Patterdale standard as great breeding stock, and driven by the animal rights agenda to eliminate hunting dogs, MQH has stepped up to the challenge. We already owned four Hall of Fame terriers.
Since the Fall of 2007, we have UKC, PTCA champion titled 12 of our terriers and been in the top ten on UKC for 2007, 2008, 2009, and currently in 2010.
We now have three generations of PTCA and UKC Titled Patterdale Terrier Conformation Champions and a UKC "Total Dog."
As a top breeder of Patterdale terriers, we devote our effort to the perfect mating. While we have some exceptional stud dogs in our yard, we sometimes use stud dogs from other breeders to make the perfect match. Every dog is given special consideration and attention. Our dogs are never confined to small areas. Long before the mating, the mothers are conditioned with consideration given to exercise and diet prior to breeding and whelping. Our Patterdale terrier puppies are long anticipated, so attention to detail is of utmost concern.
On arrival, the pups are weighed and identified. At three days their tails are docked and dewclaws removed. We begin a de-worming program at two weeks, repeated at two-week intervals and a fecal sample is done before they go to their new homes. In the past, we vaccinated at six and eight weeks. The current thinking is that with well-vaccinated bitches, this is unnecessary. As per current research, we will vaccinate just three days before eight weeks. Puppies need to continue to be vaccinated at three-week intervals until 16 to 18 weeks as directed by the veterinarian. We do not encourage pediatric altering.
MQH Patterdale Terrier puppies are imprinted early with a great deal of human contact and socialization. When you receive a pup from us it will be friendly, confident, and outgoing.
Each pup goes home with a three-generation pedigree, application for registration for PTCA, a PTCA membership application, and instructions on how to dual register with UKC.
Every puppy that leaves our kennel is fully guaranteed.
If desired, we can also provide house training for $10 a day prior to delivery.

MQH Jellybean is owned by Kerry Young, Havasu, AZ
Like Jellybean, proper training is a must! Jelly was taught to ring a bell to be let out by 10 weeks old. But expecting that your pup will learn the rules by watching TV or the other dog is just silly. All dog owners must teach their pup how to behave. Patterdale terriers are smart, loyal, and eager to learn. If you want information about training Patterdale terrier puppies, don't hesitate to call.
